This evening is the opening reception for the Michiana Annual Arts Competition (MAAC) which will begin at 5:30. This is the first time I’ve ever entered the local artists competition at St. Joseph, Michigan’s Box Factory for the Arts, and I am honored that my photograph “Carousel”, featuring one of the figures from the new Silver Beach Carousel, was selected to be included in the exhibit that will run until July 26.
I had the opportunity to stop by the Box Factory earlier this week as volunteers were hanging pieces chosen for the exhibit. Hats off to all of the artists featured in the show, there are some really creative works of art on display. Susan Henshaw’s pastel which was selected as the Best of Show is quite stunning. 2010 is a record year for the show as 229 artists submitted 434 pieces of artwork for consideration.
Be sure to stop by the Box Factory if you’ll be in St. Joseph before July 26.
